INSIDE ART, another exciting exhibition of Paintings Drawings and Craft Work, by the inmates of Cessnock Correctional Centre, opened at the Wollombi Cultural Centre on Good Friday. Come, see and enjoy the variety, originality and beauty of this Art from the Inside.

In this sixth annual exhibition, bars are still no barrier to the imagination. Inmates from all walks of life and backgrounds have combined once again to bring together this much-anticipated annual exhibition for the Wollombi community, who has always shown them such encouragement.

This exhibition is the culmination of programs and courses, to assist inmates to adjust to imprisonment and develop new attitudes, skills and knowledge. A primary purpose of the programs is to help inmates use their time constructively, to retain or gain their self-esteem, to plan positively for re-entry into society and to reduce re-offending.

The artists have attained outstanding results. Some students are studying Certificate IV in Fine Art, while others create paintings and craft work for their loved ones or for personal interest, emotional healing or relaxation. Works range from traditional to contemporary.

Extended until Sunday 2nd May 2010 from 10am to 4pm.

Sponsored by the Wollombi Valley Arts Council under the auspices of NSW Ministry for the Arts.
