Laguna artist Col Harrison is exhibiting his series of paintings of the Newcastle BHP Steelworks at the Wollombi Cultural Centre. The exhibition was opened on 16 July by Mayor of Cessnock Alison Davey.
The series of six paintings will be part of a travelling exhibition through the Hunter in 2011. The first showing will be at Col & Jan Harrison's opening of their exhibition at the WCC.
The paintings depict the aspects of the iconic BHP Plants in early days.
Very aged sepia photographs of the old BHP Plant have been respectfully reconstructed and form the basis for the paintings. A retrospective sampling of Col & Jan's work will also be on show.
Exhibition dates: 17 -25 July, weekends only,10am-4pm.
