UNTIL NOW - Janelle McCloy
'Until Now' opens on Friday July 2 at 5:30pm, with drinks and finger food, at the Wollombi Cultural Centre.
In Janelle's first solo exhibition, 'Until Now' brings together her works on portraits, landscapes and still life, using various mediums.
Janelle lives in Wollombi and is constantly inspired by her beautiful surroundings. She was at first drawn to painting and drawing landscapes but the human face has also attracted her. Recently she has been concentrating on drawing and painting portraits.
'Until Now' runs from July 3rd to 11th, 10am to 4pm

Laguna artist Col Harrison is working hard to complete his series of paintings of the Newcastle BHP Steelworks.
The series of six paintings will be part of a travelling exhibition through the Hunter in 2011.
The first showing will be at Col & Jan Harrison's opening of their exhibition at the WCC.
The paintings depict the aspects of the iconic BHP Plants in early days. Very aged sepia photographs of the old BHP Plant have been respectfully reconstructed and form the basis for the paintings.
A retrospective sampling of Col & Jan's work will also be on show.
Exhibition dates: 16th -25th July, weekends only,10am-4pm.
Call for entries for the 5th EMERGING ARTISTS AWARDS

The Wollombi Valley Arts Council (WVAC) invites entries from all emerging artists of any age in any medium!
The WVAC is a non-profit volunteer community group that manages the Wollombi Cultural Centre for the artistic and cultural needs of our community.
This award is open to all artists who haven't had a solo exhibition in a commercial gallery (not-for-profit galleries including artist-run spaces not included).
$10 entry includes 2010 WVAC membership.
This year, the awards total $4,000, supported by Cessnock City Council.There are 3 categories Open $1500, $800, $400 Youth 2x $100 and 2x $50 plus the new Wollombi Prize $1000, which will hopefully encourage more local entries.
Entry deadline: 20 September 2010
Awards Presentation: Friday 1 October 6.00pm
