You may just be in time to catch the final days of Painting the Australian Iconic at the Wollombi Cultural Centre (WCC),featuring Laguna artist Col Harrison's series of six paintings of the early days of the iconic Newcastle BHP Steelworks, part of a travelling exhibition through the Hunter in 2011.
A retrospective sampling of Col & Jan Harrison's work is also on show.
Exhibition closes on the weekend 24th/25th July,10am-4pm.

Opening on Friday 6th August, at 6pm with drinks and nibblies, Fiona, Ron and Julia will all be exhibiting, landscape inspired, new works.
Fiona uses oils and mixed media, with subdued bush colours, to create works that always delight the viewer.
Julia's acrylic works are always very bright, welcoming and colourful.
Ron, who went to Art School with Fiona, has moved from painting to sculpture/ceramic wall pieces.
Ron has been invited to exhibit next year at Maitland Regional Gallery
This 'feel good' show should make the last month of Winter much more bearable for all of us.
Exhibition runs until Sunday 29th, weekends only,10am to 4pm

Call for Entries  5th EMERGING ARTISTS AWARDS
1st-10th October 2010 at the Wollombi Cultural Centre

The Wollombi Valley Arts Council (WVAC) invites entries from all emerging artists of any age in any medium!
This award is open to all artists who haven't had a solo exhibition in a commercial gallery
(not-for-profit galleries including artist-run spaces not included).
This year, the awards total $4,000, generously supported by Cessnock City Council (CCC) and Companion Credit Union.
There are 3 categories:
Open
$1500, $800, $400 Youth 2x $100 (under 18) and 2x $50 (under 12)
plus the new Wollombi Prize $1000.
Awards Presentation: Friday 1 October 6.00pm.
