Autumn Exhibition
JULIA FRANCIS & JOHN BIGGART invite you to the Opening Celebration of their joint exhibition, for drinks and nibbles, on Friday 7th May, 5pm, at the Wollombi Cultural Centre.
Julia's current offerings, for her large following of admirers of her work, are a whole new series of abstract paintings. Julia is continuing to explore the same painting technique, which she exhibited at her last show in July 2009. "These paintings are like Visual Poems achieved with the spontaneous use of the medium (acrylics). In the act of painting, the application of the raw materials requires not only a physical but, also, an emotional approach".
Julia is constantly refining her new, innovative and free-flowing painting technique, so these latest works promise to be visually sensational.
John Biggart, who exhibited with Julia in April 08, is a Central Coast artist who specialises in large, contemporary and colourful abstract paintings.
Julia and John are hoping that fellow well known artist, Gina Fenton, will be exhibiting with them.
The Exhibition will be open until Sunday 23rd May. Thursdays to Sundays, 10am to 4pm.
Fun with Fibre
A special group of local women meet monthly to investigate and explore how fabric and fibres can be manipulated to create various items.
Bound together by a fascination with fibres, the members say "we always have fun" and meetings are punctuated by regular laughter.
They are, however, all very serious about the work they do whether it is traditional or more experimental. On occasions, tutors have been arranged to help provide more insight into a previously unexplored technique. Also, members often attend workshops so they can pass on information back to the group.
A selection of work produced by the group will be on display, with selected items for sale for two weekends, 12/13/14th June and 19/20th June, from 10am till 4pm, at the Wollombi Cultural Centre.
